Postcards from Florida, part 4
Tuesday, we drove over to Lake Wales, Florida to visit with Darla's aunt and uncle. They live on the east coast so we met half way. We enjoyed the 80 degree day at a place called Bok Tower. It is a beautiful park located at the highest elevation in central Florida. There is an unusual instrument called a carillon that is played everyday at 1 & 3. The carillon (Click carillon to hear what it sounds like) consists of 60 bronze bells ranging in weight from 16 pounds to nearly 12 tons. It is located near the top of the tower. You can read more about it at www.boksanctuary.org
Following Bok Tower, we went to Florida's Natural. This is a company that makes orange juice and other products from oranges. Tasty stuff.

Postcards from Florida, part 2
We just got back from an afternoon of walking along the beach, taking a little nap (with the sound of the ocean waves in the background) and reading. Tonight we are off to the pier in Clearwater where we have been told it is a great place to watch the sun set.
This dude washed ashore. We flipped him over and there was nothing there. He is just a shell. I can't understand why whatever creature ate the insides wouldn't have eaten it all. LOL

100 Degrees!
It's Saturday morning and I'm watching the weather channel. -29 degrees with wind chill warnings where I live. The meteorologist mentions that the place to be in the US right now is Florida, 70-80 degrees; that's a 100 degree difference. A slight smile of relief comes across my face. I'm in Orlando, Florida today, on my way to the Gulf Coast. I couldn't have timed this vacation any better. To my friends and family in Little Falls, stay warm, stay home (except for church tomorrow). Get under a nice, thick quilt and watch a movie.
Gotta go. I have an appointment with my wife. We'll be reading a book on the beach soon.
I will try and put a few pictures on my blog soon.

Do You Want to be Happier?
I recently read of a study that says "People who attend religious services weekly or more are happier (43% very happy) than those who attend monthly or less (31%) and seldom or never (26%). Pew Research has found this correlation to be consistent over the years. The same pattern applies within all major religious denominations". PWB 12/28/07
